The Sculptress
When sculptress B.J. Mungenast offered her talents to the project. The Old Guard of her imagination took shape on her first visit to Ft. Myer. Once inside the old fort’s gates, the artist encountered the regiment’s reality. With Laufenburg, she trekked from the horse stables to the parade field, from the enlisted barracks to General’s Row. Back in her studio, talented hands shaped clay and an Old Guard sculpture began to emerge.
